Pine Bluff defeated McClendon’s Appliance 10-3 in seven innings Thursday night at Bernard Holland Park. Pine Bluff scored a run in the first, one in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, five in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Benton scored a run in the third and two in the sixth. Pine Bluff had 10 runs on eight hits and McClendon’s had three runs on seven hits.
In the first, Ryan Bewley reached on a walk and after a passed ball would later score on a ground out by Levon Steward.
In the sixth, Ryan Besancon reached and later scored on a RBI double by Jacob Keeney. Chase Southworth later followed with a RBI single to plate Keeney but by that time Pine Bluff had a 9-3 lead.
Gene Dunkin was 1 for 2, Keeney was 1 for 3 with a double and a RBI, and Southworth was 2 for 4 with a RBI. Steward didn’t have a hit, but did manage a RBI.
Keeney pitched five innings, allowing four runs on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Holden Hanley pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing five runs on three hits with a strikeout.
Coy Fitzhugh pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed a run with three strikeouts. McClendon’s drops to 1-4 on the season and a 2-5 record in conference.
Benton will play Sylvan Hills Saturday at Bernard Holland Park beginning at 1 p.m.
