The Benton Lady Panther golf team finished as conference runner-up and fourth in state after a two-day tournament.
On the first day, Grace Lile shot an 89, Karli Lipinski shot a 104, Daphne Bono shot a 119, Kayla Payne shot a 104, Kaylen Presnall shot a 117 and Benton’s team total was a 297.
The first day round total was good enough for a second place finish in conference behind conference champion El Dorado, who shot a 289 as a team.
On the second day, Lile shot a 85, Lipinski shot a 89, and Payne shot a 95.
“The second day was a lot better,” coach Chad Pitts said. “As a team we were 28 strokes better the second day.”
Lile, Lipinski and Payne earned all-conference and Lile won the individual medalist for the conference and was fourth in the state overall.
“To end our season on that note, showed the girls if we play like we are capable of playing, then we can really do something next year,” Pitts said.
El Dorado loses its two best players to graduation but Benton will have everyone returning.
“If our kids work hard over the wintaer, there is no reason why we can’t win conference next year,” Pitts said. “Possibly even make a run at state.”
Pitts said he was proud of Lile for her two rounds and of Lipinski and Payne for making all-conference.
