Herbert Eugene McVay, 80, of Malvern, passed away Nov. 24 at St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. He was born July 15, 1931, in Dardanelle, to the late Harvey Eugene McVay and Mildred (Jennings) McVay.
He was a member of the North Main Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and telling stories to his grandchildren. He retired as a millwright from Alcoa Aluminum Metals in Bauxite.
He never met a stranger and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Troy Alford McVay.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Eileen McVay; daughters Vicki Head and husband Max, Rebecca Mickle, Theresa Bartow and husband George, and Kristine Overstreet; a son, Steven Eugene McVay and wife Tefaney; two brothers, James McVay and wife Marilyn and Bobby McVay and wife Virgene; two sisters, Margaret Boyd and husband Virgil and Violet McVay; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Clear Creek Cemetery on Country Club Road. Ed Simmons will conduct the service.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern. Arrangements are by Boyd and Regency Funeral Homes
Pallbearers are grandsons Jeremy Allen, Robby Morehead, Michael Head, Logan Overstreet and Seth McVay and a special son, Joe Overstreet. Honorary pallbearers are Max Head and Bill Harding.
