Powell B. Brown, 86, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25. He was born July 24, 1925, in Frisco City, Ala., to the late Robert and Mamie Brown.
Powell was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. Powell was a member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gloria Mae Brown; two brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Melba Jean Brown of Benton; a son, Donald Brown and wife Alicia of Benton; a grandson, Ryan Brown; a sister, Mildred Brown Davis of Crews Lake, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home with the Rev. Robbie Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan 27, at the funeral home.
