Cyril E. Shipp, 93, of Bryant passed away March 5. He was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Bauxite to the late Audie and Myrtle Wise Shipp.
Cyril was an Army veteran, serving during World War I. He received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Bryant, a Mason with Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Knights Templar and C.M.A.
Cyril retired from Reynolds Metals after working in the maintenance department for many years. He was an avid Razorback fan and loved his motorcycle riding adventures with his wife.
During 1981, when he lost his leg to amputation, Cyril spent his down time, engineering a way that when he was able to ride again, he could shift gears, simplified by using automatic door locks off autos.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Kenny Harrell.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred Wright Shipp of Bryant; daughters, Barbara Davis and husband Kenneth of Sardis and Martha Barr of Searcy; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service by Ashby Funeral Home will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Forest Hills Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Thomas will officiate .
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home.
