Odalene “Odie” Grissom Morrison, 86, of Benton, passed away April 22. She was born on June 16, 1925 in Bauxite, to Wade and Vuda Grissom. She was of the Baptist faith and loved God, living her life to please God. In her younger days, she was very active in her children’s school activities and in her church, teaching Sunday school for many years in California. When she returned to Arkansas in 1990, she joined the Saline County Democratic Women and traveled across the country to several National Conventions including a trip to Washington DC where she visited the White House and sat in President Bill Clinton’s chair. In 1991, she was a founding member of the Bauxite Ladies Association. She was known as the Daffodil Lady and went to Wye Mountain every year to see them bloom. Odie had a wonderful sense of humor and all who had the pleasure of knowing her will remember her with a smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.A. “Bud” Morrison and her son, Walter Franklin Morrison.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Sturgeon and husband, Robert , three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sister, Barbara Atchison and husband, Kenneth, brother in law Kenneth Huckaby and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 with Bro. David Mason officiating. Burial will be at Bellevue Cemetery in Ontario, California.
Visitation will be one hour before service time,1- 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25.
