Dr. Carl F. Matlock, 76, of Benton passed away May 4, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 23, 1935 in Bismarck to the late Howard F. and Oma Hughes Matlock. Carl was in the Army National Guard from 1957-1963. He was a chiropractor in Benton for many years and was of the Baptist faith. Carl and his wife Betty worked together for many years in his office and many of their patients became part of their family. Carl loved to do history and genealogy for his patients and other people at no charge. He was in numerous genealogy groups in other states. He was also a member of the Arkansas Chiropractic Society, the Saline County Tea Party, Saline County Republican Committee, Hot Spring County Historical Society and the Boone County Historical Society. Carl was an avid fisherman and fished many tournaments, but his greatest reward was helping others. Other than his parents he was also preceded in death by his step-mother Sybil Capps Matlock.
Survivors include his wife Betty Bailey Matlock of Benton, son: Todd Matlock and his wife Debbie of Hot Springs and his mother-in-law: Louise Bailey of Malvern, two brothers: Gary Matlock and his wife Kay of Gurdon, Ronnie Matlock and his wife Debbie of Malvern and sister: Jane Hammonds and husband Doug of Lonsdale.
Service will be 10a.m., Wednesday, May 9, at Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Knight and Bro. Doug Hammonds officiating. Burial will be in the Old DeRoche Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Matlock, Ronnie Matlock, Gene Clements, Frank Scott, H.R. Atkinson, and Steve McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be the Saline County Republican Committee.
Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday May 8, at Regency Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the DeRoche Missionary Baptist Church, c/o the Cemetery Fund or the Hot Spring County Historical Society. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home.
