Ruth A. Rudder Landers, 77, of Benton died Saturday May 12, in Benton. She was born November 10, 1934 in Hensley, to the late Samuel Andrew Rudder and Annie Elizabeth McAllister Rudder. Ruth attended Benton High School and was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton where she had a 20 year perfect attendance record in Sunday School. She first worked at the Owosso Furniture Co. She met and married Carl W. “Ruff” Landers and had one son, after he was a year old, she went to work in Benton City Hall, helping her father-in-law, Virgil F. Landers and later became City Secretary and City Treasurer, and worked there for 17 1/2 years. She resigned to spend time with her sick mother. Ruth later worked for the State of Arkansas in the Unemployment Division and Nursing Home Department and then worked for Reynolds Metals as a security guard until the plant started closing, then she went to work at the Saline Memorial Hospital in the Security Department, Printing Shop and Outpatient Department for several years resigning from there and going to work for the City of Benton Landfill where she worked until she retired in December 31, 2007, due to bad health.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl W. “Ruff” Landers, brothers, William B. Rudder, of Benton; Bob Rudder, of Coos Bay, Oregon; Elmer L. Rudder, of Benton; sister, Sybil Rudder Griffin Lovell, of Benton.
She is survived by her son, Rod Lynn Landers and wife Marla, of Benton; two grandsons, Nathan Lynn Landers and Matt Landers, both of Benton; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Nichole Landers and Hanna Renee Landers, her sister’s special children who she raised, John Nicklaus Gabriel and wife Ruth Adell Gabriel of Blooming, Indiana; John Nichols Gabriel, Vickie Lynn Lovell Parker and husband Larry, Roger Troy Lovell and wife Tina, of Benton, Marilyn Fay Griffin Sullivan and husband Raymond of Benton; Carolyn Kay Griffin Kesterson and husband Don, of Benton; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and also great-great-nieces and nephews. A life long friend, Glenda Lee Nichols of Hot Springs; and a very special little friend Stephanie Benold of Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 17 at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Liberty Cemetery. Ministers will be Dr. Rick Grant and Pastor Brady Lane.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers are Nick Landers, Steve Landers, Jim Crawford, Dave Crawford, Jeff Lorenzo, Don Kesterson, Raymond Sullivan, James Alsupand Gaylon Roberts.

Family comments: Ruth loved everyone, yard work and cooking as her hobbies and also talking on the phone. She loved her son very much and daughter-in-law as the daughter she never had. She loved her two grandsons more than life itself. A special thanks to all her friends who helped her during the years.
