The Harmony Grove Cardinals finished off the regular season in style when they pulled out their third shutout of the season on the road at Horatio with a 27-0 domination of the Lions on Thursday night in 5-3A conference action.
"We played well on both sides of the ball and the kicking game," Assistant Coach Richard Moore said. "Good effort."
Harmony Grove also shut out Poyen 17-0 in Week 1 and Bismarck 27-0 in Week 5.
Junior Evan Williams had two interceptions on defense against the Lions and junior Nick Johnson had an interception which went for a touchdown. The Cardinals (4-6, 3-4 5-3A) also recovered two fumbles on defense.
On offense, Johnson added two more touchdowns on runs, and sophomore quarterback Fisher Arnesen threw a touchdown pass to senior receiver Tyler williams.
"We played well," Moore said. "We dominated [last night]."
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the Centerpoint Knights also won their game against Bismarck 28-7, which kept Harmony Grove out of the playoffs. The Knights (3-7, 3-4) defeated Harmony Grove 14-6 in Haskell in Week 7 with the tiebreaker going to Centerpoint.
