Billy Gene Ramsey, 79, of Benton passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26. He was born Nov. 6, 1933 in Bauxite.
Mr. Ramsey worked at Owasso as a foreman for 25 years; after that he worked for Dalworth of Haskell as a truck driver for 30 years. He loved truck driving.
Mr. Ramsey could tell you how to get anywhere you wanted to go and how long it would take you to get there. He also loved to make people laugh and did a good job of it. Mr. Ramsey was a member of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Willie Mae Ramsey; a brother, James Olean Ramsey and a sister, Lillie Rae Whitmire.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sarah Ramsey; four children, Rocky Marshall Ramsey and wife Karen, Robin Pelton and husband Gary, and Jeff Ramsey, all of Benton, and Michael Ramsey and wife Sherry of Traskwood; two brothers, Jr. Marshall Ramsey and Donald Ramsey; three sisters, Bonnie Sullivan, Elsie Hill and Betty Ford, all of Benton; seven grandchildren, Tami Matthews Hawkins and husband Robin, Jason Neal Matthews and wife Chrissy, Paula Morgan Ramsey, Harley Taylor Ramsey, Spring Dae Ramsey, Rocky Marshall Ramsey Jr. and J. Alan Ramsey; and four great-grandsons, Kaleb Matthews, Blake Hawkins, Hunter Hawkins and Landon Matthews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at Ashby Funeral Home with Brother Ben Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home.
