Claude Lee “Butch” Bennett Jr., who friends and family called "Butch," passed away early in the morning on Monday, May 20, 2013.
He was born in Little Rock on Feb. 23, 1945, to the late Claude L. Onie Mae (Golden) Bennett. He loved life and loved the freedoms of America.
He loved to ride motorcycles and put a lot of time into fixing up his motorcycle. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also knew the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved life and was glad he got to know his children better in the end of his life.
He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 on the USS Graffis.
Butch is survived by his children, Charles “Chuck” Rook and wife Michele of Little Rock and Rachel Slate and husband Paul of Benton; a twin sister, Claudine Dillman and husband George of Cody, Wyo.; a sister, Julia Reynolds and husband Bobby of Little Rock; grandchildren, Samantha Shellnutt, Jonathan Shellnutt, and Katherine Rook, all of Benton; an aunt, Jean Jeans of Blevins; and numerous cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with Brother David Harris officiating. Arrangements are by Arkansas Funeral Care of Jacksonville.
