Madean “Dumpy” Rickard, 78, of Bryant died Thursday June 13, 2013. She was born Oct. 1, 1934 in Bauxite to Dick and Ona Daugherty.
She was a 1952 graduate of Bauxite High School and Capitol City Business College. She had worked for Saline County Social Services and the Saline County Tax Collector's Office. Madean was a member of East Smith Street Church of Christ.
She was given the nickname “Dumpy” and was known by her family and many friends by this name.
Madean was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; a sister, Annette Harris; a stepson, Monte Ray Rickard; and a son-in-law, Ron Crawley;
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Rickard; three daughters, Cindy Crawley of Bryant, Melinda Murtha of Conway and Kristy Cordell and husband Joel of Benton; four grandchildren, Aaron Crawley and wife Erin of Fayetteville, Ashli Fleming and husband Wade of Bryant, and Allison and Amanda Cordell of Benton; four great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Ronnie Rickard and Donnie Rickard and wife Sherry of Jonesboro; eight step-grandchildren; two sisters, Bartha Wise of Bryant and Martha Daugherty of Garland, Texas; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Ashby Funeral Home with Jack Avaritt officiating Burial will follow at New Rosemont Cemetery in Benton.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the funeral home.
