Phillip Lynn Paslay, 65, of Searcy went to his eternal rest Monday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2014, at White County Medical Center.
Phillip was born in Eugene, Ore., and raised in Bauxite, where he attended school, played on an undefeated football team and made lifelong friends.
He and his family moved to Searcy 37 years ago and he had lived, worked and taught in this community since that time. He was a kind and gentle man and had many good friends. His soft heart, dry wit, and willingness to help others will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Edna Paslay.
He is survived by his great love, best friend, and wife of 47 years, Bette Paslay, whom he married Nov. 17, 1967; his loving son, Chris Paslay and wife Kim; a devoted daughter, Robyn Sanders and husband Cory; and his precious sister, Virginia Greenway and husband Rogie. His greatest pride were his grandchildren — Jesse and Lily Palsay and Emily and Lynley Sanders — who all loved their "Pa."
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Powell Funeral Home of Searcy. The family will be staying at the family home in Searcy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bauxite High School Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund, in care of Gary Ramsey, 1810 Hidden Valley Drive, Benton, AR 72019.
