Hornets upend Charging Wildcats

BRYANT – The Bryant Hornets picked up a huge 45-38 victory on over the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats on Tuesday night in 7A/6A Central conference action in Bryant. Both teams are 8-5 in the Central and since Bryant beat North Little Rock by seven points and the Charging Wildcats won by five points, 53-48, earlier in the year, the Hornets have the tie-breaker.

Lady Panthers' streak ends at 15

EL DORADO – The Benton Lady Panthers ended their 15-game winning streak and their perfect conference season with a 43-39 double-overtime loss to the El Dorado Lady Wildcats on Tuesday night in 6A South conference action to end the regular season.

“I think we played about as bad as we could possibly play,” Benton Coach Jerry Chumley said. “We missed a lot of easy shots and we didn’t have the intensity that we needed. We didn’t play with any urgency. It just wasn’t a very good ball game.”

Lady Cardinals fall in thriller

LITTLE ROCK - With every beginning, there is an end. Just like the best or worst book in the world, it always ends in one way or another. There is no difference in this year’s Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals and most of all, this year’s seniors. After beating the Cutter Morning Star Lady Eagles on Tuesday night in the opening round of the 5-3A South district tournament at Episcopal, the Lady Cardinals found themselves fighting for a bid to the 3A regional tournament.

Miners' season continues with win in district

MALVERN – The Bauxite Miners’ season will continue as they picked up a 41-33 win against the Ashdown Panthers Wednesday night in the 7-4A district tournament held at the Bill Hunt Fieldhouse in Malvern. The Miners qualified for the regional tournament next week, but first have to face the No. 1 team in the 4A conference, Pulaski Academy.

“This time of year it’s a one-game season,” Bauxite Coach Mark Smith said. “It’s game to game and our guys, our seniors, we told them if you don’t want your career to be over, you’ve got to step it up.”
