Benton Alderman Bill Donnor was involved in an accident around noon Monday at the intersection of Carpenter and Market streets in Benton after a medical issue caused him to collide with another car, according to reports.

Donnor battled a virus last week that he was still recovering from. His weakened health, along with a drop in blood pressure, caused him to have a seizure while driving, Alderman Jerry Ponder told the Benton City Council during an agenda session Monday evening.

Due to the seizure, his vehicle, a red Ford pickup truck, struck a Volkswagen Beetle car at the intersection.

According to a Benton Police Department Crash Report, Chief Scotty Hodges was the first person to arrive on scene. Donnor, who was unresponsive when Hodges arrived, was transported to Saline Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

The driver of the other vehicle, Kristen Allen, of North Little Rock, told officers she was traveling north on Highway 35. While she was driving through the intersection her vehicle was struck by Donnor’s vehicle on the driver’s side.

She was not injured, according to police.
