Harold “Lacy” Landers

Harold “Lacy” Landers, 84, of Benton passed away Friday, Aug. 20, in Bryant.
He was born June 28, 1927, in Benton to the late Virgil and Josie Landers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Ralph Landers, Vera Landers Lorenzo, Watt Landers, Carl Landers, Lucy Landers Crawford and Bob Landers; and a granddaughter, Lorie Black.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lea Landers; two daughters, JoNell Mallory and husband Jim, Lisa McGuire and husband Steve; three grandchildren, Mistie Black and her father, Bill Black, Todd McGuire and wife Meagan and Brice McGuire; three great-grandchildren, Laci Larsen, Luke Larsen and Beckett McGuire; a brother, Jim Landers; a sister, Mamie Landers Chisholm; John Landers, a special nephew, and many other relatives and friends.
Lacy was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a Royal Ambassador director and a member of many church committees. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was retired from Alcoa. He was a state representative for 32 years and served as chairman of the Legislative Council and Speaker of the House.
He served on the boards of directors for Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled (AEDD) and Arkansas State Nursing Board. He retired from Malvern National Bank and lobbied for Community Bankers Association and the Association of Rural Arkansas Telephone System, and he was also an advocate for the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Arkansas Health Center.
He was also inducted into the Benton Athletic Memorial Museum Wall Hall of Fame.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Old Rosemont Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in Selph Hall at First Baptist Church of Benton.
