Mildred 'Mil' Hampton

Mildred "Mil" Hampton was born Oct. 23, 1941, in New Orleans and raised in Sorrnto, La., to the late Sullivan and Lucinda Hampton.
Mildred departed this life with her baby girl holding her hand and her family by her side as she received her wings on June 4, 2014, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 72.
Mildred accepted Christ and was baptized Aug. 28, 1988, at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church in Harvey, La., under the leadership of Pastor Keith Paul Stewman.
Mildred later moved to Bryant where she was a member of the First Baptist of Bryant under the leadership of Pastor Phillip Miller.
Mildred never met a stranger, and she extended her heart and open arms to everyone she met. Mildred loved to cook and sew in her spare time throughout her life.
After moving to Bryant, she became the neighbor “granny” as much as her health allowed. Although she rarely got to visit her church family, she loved worshiping God.
Mildred was proud to finally get the news that her baby brother had become a grandpa to two handsome boys, Dekota and Antoine.
Mildred was preceded in death by her loving parents; grandparents (Henry and Corinne Williams); three uncles, Samuel Charles Griffin, Samuel and Henry Williams; one aunt, Pauline Pigpin; a stepdaughter, Tammy Alexander; a sister, Lillie Mae Mackyeon; two nieces, Samantha Mackyeon and Alfreda Smith; a grandson, Derin Hampton; and a daughter-in-law, Larisa Hampton.
She leaves to celebrate her legacy nine beautiful and courageous children, Johnny (Karen), Anita Lynn, Kenneth Wayne, Ricky, Richard, Shannon Hampton, Betty Washington (Bruce), Bruce Hampton, Jojeanna (Gabriel) Allen; and stepchildren, Durel and Brian Allen; two godchildren, Marsha Conrade and Thaddeus Mackyeon; one brother, Richard Hampton; her only sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Hampton; and her 101-year-old aunt, Isabelle Sanford; 40 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral will be held at 6 p.m. today, June 12, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant.
A second service is set for 10 a.m. June 14 at the Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans. Visitation will be held one hour prior to each service.
