creator to run for Bryant City Council seat creator and blogger Shelli Russell has announced she is seeking a position on the Bryant City Council this November. She will vie for the Ward 3, Position 1 seat currently held by Adrian Henley.

And Russell has not been able to stay completely above the fray.
Earlier this year, Henley and two other aldermen filed a lawsuit against six unnamed bloggers who use Russell's website, The aldermen say the bloggers have defamed them.
Russell was ordered to save and provide to the court all the contents on the website, along with the IP addresses of the bloggers. Russell declined, attesting it was a freedom of speech issue and hired a lawyer to help her.
Russell said she intends to continue her involvement with throughout her campaign and, if elected, during her term.
"I don't see it as a conflict of interest because both projects have the common goal of bringing the community together," she said.
Russell said that on her website, "I do my best to stay out of voicing my opinion. If I'm telling people, 'this is what you need to do,' I
express that it's my opinion."
If elected, Russell said she would bring patience and a level head to the position. "We need someone in that position who is willing to ask residents what they want and need. Someone who cares about the future of the city and works together not against."
Russell has lived in Saline County for the past 11 years. She also lived here when she was a young child and in her 20s.
"I've been in the community a long time and served in many different ways," she said. "A lot of people have approached me to run, and I've thought about it for years. I'm now in a position where I can do it."
Aldermanic positions are nonpartisan.
