Rev. E. D. Singleton

The Rev. E. D. Singleton, 91, of Malvern, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, Feb. 21. He was born in Oden on Dec. 20, 1920, to Elbert and Emmer Singleton (Pruitt).
Singleton, a World War II veteran, served in the U.S. Army from June 1942 to January 1946 was highly decorated and honorably discharged as a platoon sergeant, a 745 combat infantry man.
He received the Victory Ribbon, Good Combat Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and a Bronze Star GO 23 Hq USAFFE45.
Licensed in 1955 and ordained in 1958 by the Assemblies of God, Singleton was pastor for more than 50 years to 16 churches in California and Arkansas. He retired from the ministry in 1992.
Singleton was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Deleva H. Singleton (Rankin); a daughter, Brenda Tull; and seven brothers.
He is survived by his son, David Singleton; two daughters, Carolyn Roach and Vonnie Newsom and husband Kenneth; a brother, Billy Singleton; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at Calvary Assembly of God with the Rev. Noel Morehead and grandson, the Rev. Randy Roach, officiating. Burial will be at Brushy Cemetery in Oden.
Pallbearers are Zachary Newsom, Dalton Roach, Derek Roach, Rodgey Roach, Rodney Roach and Tommy Wimberly.
