Second homicide in Saline County this year; suspect arrested

A Little Rock man is behind bars today for allegedly fatally stabbing an East End man late Friday.
George David Davidson, 36, faces a charge of first-degree murder and, as of press time, was being held without bond at the Saline County jail.
Lt. Scotty Courtney said at 7 p.m. Friday, 911 dispatch received a call of a possible stabbing at a home in the 7400 block of Brimer Road in Mabelvale. Deputies reportedly arrived on the scene at 7:10 p.m. and found 33-year-old Chris Yarberry with stab wounds.
Saline Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service also arrived and transported Yarberry to Olive Hill Road to meet with a Med-Flight crew, the report said.
Courtney said that Yarberry was later pronounced dead at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
Davidson reportedly was not at the home on Brimer Road when deputies arrived, but was taken into custody early Saturday, Courtney said. Details about the homicide investigation were not available as of press time, but Courtney said the investigation is continuing.
This marks the second homicide investigation for 2013 in Saline County. On Jan. 27, the body of 19-year-old Gregory Tyrone Pikes of Benton was discovered by two men in a leased hunting area off River Road in Haskell. Courtney said the body has been sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab and detectives are working leads to identify suspects in the murder.
Anyone with information concerning either homicide case is asked to call the Saline County Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division at 501-303-5608.
The Saline Courier will continue to report information on these incidents as information becomes available.
