Witt will be returning from Tupelo, Miss, where he taking part in the celebrated Tupelo Elvis Festival. While in Tupelo, Tony will be competing in Elvis Presley Enterprises Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.
This is not Witt's first time to complete in the Ultimate Elvis Contest series; he placed in the top ten at the Ultimate Elvis Hardrock Café Contest in Memphis both in 2009 and 2010. Most recently, he secured international third place in the 2011 Images of the King International Championship held in Memphis last August during Elvis Week 2011 Celebration.
Witt will be part of Elvis Week 2012 where part of his time is spent performing at the tent at Graceland Crossing. This is a free public venue where approved Elvis Entertainers perform for guests during the Elvis Week festivities.
In his 23rd year of performing his one-of-a-kind tribute show, Witt is accustomed to receiving a warm welcome and usually a packed house at The Royal.
Longtime Arkansas Elvis Fan Club president (and longtime Elvis fan) Beverly Rook, gives this opinion of Witt's performances.
"I first came (even somewhat reluctantly) to Tony's show because of my love for Elvis and his music. But it is Tony that keeps me coming back.
"Being the organizer of the memorial service held on Aug. 16t (the anniversary of Elvis' death), I work closely with some of Elvis' closest friends and band-mates each year. Because of my involvement year after year with the (memorial) service during Elvis Week, I've seen more than my fair share of impersonators and performers.
"What I find most often is there are those that look the part or sound the part, but very seldom do you find the two traits residing in the same individual. Not only have I found these traits coexisting in Tony Witt, but also the heart for God and people that was a huge part of who Elvis was.
"Tony is, in my opinion, the real deal," Rook said.
She encourages others not to miss the opportunity to catch Tony Witt at the Royal Theatre on June 9 at 7 p.m.
"You just might get 'all shook up.'" she added.
