A bus passenger from Dallas was arrested by Benton Police after he allegedly stabbed a Pilot Travel Center employee on Thursday.
Benton Police Department responded to the truck stop at 7801 Alcoa Road just after 8:45 a.m. after receiving a report of an employee being stabbed following a shoplifting incident.
Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the scene but was located nearby and taken into custody shortly after with assistance from Bryant Police Department and Arkansas State Police, according to a press release from the Benton Police Department.
The suspect, Tiequail Brown, 31, had boarded a bus in Dallas en route to Denver. During a stop at the Pilot Travel Center, Police said Brown became combative when confronted by store employees and was asked to return stolen merchandise according to the release.
A store employee was stabbed by Brown in the confrontation, according to the release. The employee was transported for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.
Brown was treated for a minor injury sustained in the struggle and was cleared to be taken to jail.
Brown was arrested on felony charges of aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated assault; felony battery; four counts of terroristic threatening; resisting arrest; misdemeanor theft of property; obstruction of governmental operations.
