The Benton City Council passed two new ordinances Monday night related to the recent decision to raise stormwater fees in order to fund much-needed maintenance and repairs to the street and drainage system throughout the city.
One ordinance reduces the monthly fees for those 65 or older or who are on Social Security Disability. The second allows for a portion of the fees to be used for personnel expenses.
While both were passed unanimously, the second did meet with resistance from some Aldermen.
