RUSSELLVILLE – The Bryant track and field team had some good showings at this year’s Meet of Champs in Russellville Wednesday, highlighted by a win by the 4x800-meter relay.Â
The foursome of Taegan Herrien, Lauren Lain, Eliza Parker and Lilly James ran to the 4x800 win Wednesday in a time of 9:58.79 and was the only team to get sub-10 minutes in earning the victory.Â
On the boys side, Bryant junior Devyn Steingisser took a second- and third-place finish in the discus and shot put, runner-up in the discus with a throw of 155-3, while tossing a 51-7.25 in the shot for third. Steingisser won the discus at the 6A State Meet with a throw of 1:51-10 last week.Â
For the Lady Hornets, Kylee Branch was third in the discus with a throw of 127-11, while Hornet runner Brandon Avila was also third in the 1,600-meter run in a personal-record time of 4:23.90, just three seconds away from a win.Â
For the girls, Zoe Wilson was fourth in the 400 run in a time of 59.03.Â
Also taking fourth was the boys 4x400 relay, with the foursome of Dylan Witcher, Sam Herring, Ian Cunningham and Tristen Knox finishing in a season-best time of 3:28.15, three seconds from the winning team.Â
Knox would also take fifth in the long jump with a distance of 21-11.5.Â
